Who We Are
Right Way to Moving runs as a Pennsylvania PUC-licensed household-goods carrier out of Philadelphia, holding its own interstate DOT and MC authority for the long-distance work. Local moves, long-distance runs, residential and apartment jobs, full packing, short-term storage, load-only labor, senior moves, and specialty pieces like pianos and gun safes all go out on our own trucks with our own W-2 crew — nobody subcontracted, no broker in between. Once a quote turns into a booked date, everything below is the agreement that applies.
How Pricing Works
A Philadelphia-area or Delaware Valley move usually prices out as one flat written figure based on the home’s size and what’s being moved. Labor-only work — loading or unloading a rented truck, say — runs hourly instead, at the rate quoted up front: $145/hr for two movers, $195/hr for three, 2-hour minimum. A long-distance job prices off weight, mileage, and any extras requested, written down before your date locks in. If the scope grows after that estimate — more rooms, more boxes — we flag it before loading starts, not after.
Booking & Deposits
Most local jobs need nothing down — payment happens once the work is done. Long-distance dates and storage reservations sometimes carry a modest deposit to hold the truck and crew, and that amount comes straight off the final bill rather than sitting on top of it.
Paying the Bill
Unless we’ve agreed otherwise in writing, payment is due at job’s end, by whatever method was disclosed when you booked. An unpaid balance can carry a late fee, and for stored goods, Pennsylvania law allows a lien on the property until the account is settled.
Changing or Cancelling a Date
Call the office directly to cancel or move your date — reasonable notice costs nothing. A cancellation that lands after we’ve already committed a crew and truck to your slot can carry a fee, disclosed at the time you booked.
Coverage on Your Shipment
$1M of cargo coverage rides on every job we run. On top of that, federal rule requires we offer two valuation options: Released Value Protection, included free, capping our liability at $0.60 per pound per item; or Full Value Protection, an optional add-on priced at 1–3% of your shipment’s declared value, which covers loss or damage much closer to real replacement cost. Whichever you choose gets written down before move day — pick neither, and federal default rules put you on Released Value automatically.
Filing a Claim
Something turn up missing or damaged? Call as soon as you spot it. Federal rule gives you up to nine months from delivery to put a claim in writing, and we work the resolution from there based on whichever valuation level applied to your move.
What We’re Not On the Hook For
Boxes packed by the customer rather than our crew are outside our liability unless our own handling caused the damage, and the same goes for undisclosed high-value items — cash, jewelry, important paperwork — which we’d rather you transport yourself. Genuine outside factors — a Schuylkill Expressway shutdown, a January nor’easter — can push a move back without that delay being ours to answer for, though we’ll flag it the moment we know.
Governing Law
These terms run under Pennsylvania law regardless of any conflict-of-law principle that might point somewhere else, and any dispute over Right Way to Moving’s services goes through the courts of Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
